PADI dive courses

Manta Dive Center offers a variety of PADI courses; from Discover Scuba to Open Water Diver, Advanced courses including; Specialities, Rescue Diver and Dive Master, among others. Generally anyone in good average health and at least 10 years old can participate. You will, however, complete a medical questionaire, anything on the questionaire that indicates a reason to be cautious about diving, any respiratory problems, heart conditions or pregnancy, you'll need to check with a physician to make sure you can dive. For the most part there is very little keeping you from discovering the excitement and adventure, freedom and serenity of Scuba Diving. Nothing compares with the "weightless" exhilaration of breathing underwater. Only a diver knows the feeling!

 

Discover Scuba Diving

This is a 3-4 hour program designed for people who have never tried to scuba dive before, and would like to do their first dive on a tropical reef. It is suitable for ages 10-70, this program includes watching a short Discover Scuba Diving video, briefing on the fundamentals of scuba diving, confined water training and an easy reef dive with an Instructor, to a maximum depth of 10 meters. It is a lot of fun and very safe. It is the best way to decide if you would like to take the next step to become a certified Open Water Diver!

 

PADI Scuba Diver

The PADI Scuba Diver program is a pre-entry level certification that is perfect for vacationers or people who only plan to dive a couple times a year.

As a subprogram of the PADI Open Water Diver program, the PADI Scuba Diver rating allows you to get certified quickly and easily by minimizing time constraints. With the PADI Scuba Diver certification you can dive under the direct supervision of a PADI Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, Instructor or higher professional on your next vacation or dive trip. The course takes 2-3 days, and includes 2 open water dives.

 

OPEN WATER DIVER COURSE:

The excitement and adventure starts here! This is the entry-level course designed to provide students with the elemental knowledge in scuba physics, physiology, and equipment. This knowledge is then applied during the confined water dives where you will learn numerous basic diving skills. These skills are needed to safely gain experience in the diving environment and ultimately, to visit the underwater world. This course takes 4-7 days depending on the students capabilites and the sea and weather conditions.

 

REFERRAL PROGRAM:

This is ideal for the diver who has started the course elsewhere, did not finish the course and would like to come to our warm and clear waters to finish the course. This can be done in two (2) days, depending on the course. Just be sure to bring your referral forms from your last instructor! ADVENTURE DIVER:

The PADI Adventures in Diving program offers both the Adventure Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver certifications. By completing any three adventure dives, you will earn your PADI Adventure Diver certification. If you complete your Deep Adventure Dive, Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive and three Adventure Dives - a total of five dives - you can earn your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver.

 

ADVANCED OPEN WATER COURSE:

The PADI Advanced Open Water course is the next step. This course provides additional, supervised diving experiences for all divers, from newly certified to those who have been diving for years and want to learn new skills. It is truly one of the most fun and rewarding courses in the PADI Continuing Education program. You will expand your diving horizons in the areas of deep diving, navigation and three additional electives dives, in a structured and well-supervised environment. The experience and confidence you gain in this course will carry you to the next level and will allow you to participate in new specialty courses which will lead to becoming a Master Diver. This course takes 2-4 days, depending on the students capabilites and the sea and weather conditions.

 

Specialties

Speciality courses are designed to provide a safe and fun way to learn new skills, to participate in new activities and to increase ones overall dive knowledge. Enrolling in a specialty course means learning new skills in a supervised environment. The following list of courses are available to you once you have completed your Advanced Open Water training. They can be completed in 1-3 days depending on the students capabilities and the sea and weather conditions.

U/W Navigation:

The PADI Underwater Navigation course teaches divers one of the most important skills they can master, proper use of the compass. The areas we dive may not always have good visibility and the skills learned in this course will help prevent underwater disorientation, conserve air, lower diver stress and anxiety, reduces buddy separations, and eliminate long strenuous surface swims. Obtaining the necessary underwater navigation skills is crucial to successful diving and safety. This course includes 3 dives and can be completed in 1-2 days.

 

Night Diver:

The PADI Night Diver course is one of the most popular speciality courses offered. Night diving provides divers an additional opportunity to experience the aquatic world under totally different conditions than when diving during daylight hours. The same dive site changes significantly when the day-dwellers retire and the night creatures become active. In this course you will learn specific skills and equipment that are required to safely dive at night. This course includes 3 dives and can be completed in 2-3 nights.

 

U/W Naturalist:

The PADI Underwater Naturalist course teaches divers to explore their natural curiousity in the aquatic world. Students will learn proper techniques for observing and interacting, both passively and actively, with marine life, correcting many diver misconceptions as they progress through the course. Underwater conservation, environmental cleanups and proper decision making regarding when and how to take or not to take aquatic life are all explored, and learning about diffferent types of fish as well. This course includes 2 dives and can be completed in 1 day.

 

Boat Diver:

Since boat diving is a very popular activity and provides divers access to some of the very best dive sites this certification is a must. The PADI Boat Diver course covers topics ranging from proper procedures to boat safety and etiquette. Knowledge and skills discussed in this course include: gear storage and preparation, entries and exits from the boat during various surface conditions, descent and ascents using lines, identification of potential safety concerns such as currents, waves and other dive site hazards. This course includes 2 dives and can be completed in 1 day

 

Peak Performance Bouyancy:

The PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy course is designed to help divers polish their buoyancy skills beyond the Open Water Diver level. The goal is to enhance the student's understanding of proper weighting and buoyancy control abilities through knowledge development and skills practice. With a few fun skills, divers notice a vast improvement after this course in the bouyancy on their dives. This course includes 2 dives and can be completed in 1 day.

 

Drift Diver:

The PADI Drift Diver course is intended to familiarize divers with the skills, knowledge, planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems, hazards, and enjoyment of drift diving. This course will serve as a safe and supervised introduction to drift diving in the underwater environment. Our goal is to have fun while developing the student's practical knowledge of drift diving as well as enabling the student to plan, organize and make dives using safe drift diving techniques. Tobago is well known for the fantastic drift dives, so it is a perfect place to do this course. This course includes 2 dives and can be completed in 1 day.

 

Underwater Photography:

The PADI Underwater Photography course is designed to familiarize divers with the skills, knowledge, planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems, hazards and enjoyment of shooting underwater still photographs. This course is intended to serve as a safe and supervised introduction to underwater still photography techniques used in the underwater environment. The goals of this course are to develop the students practical knowledge of photographic principles, composition, film types, strobe and available light shots and camera handling techniques. In addition, each student will learn proper preparation, as well as proper care and maintenance of photographic equipment. This course includes 2 dives and can be completed in 1 day.

 

Deep Diver:

The recommended recreational depth limit for divers is 30m according to PADI, with 40m as an absolute maximum. Special training prepares you for deep diving in conditions as good as or better than those in which you trained or have experience. This course covers the theory and techniques of deep diving in detail. This course includes 4 dives and can be completed in 2-3 days.

 

Wreck Diver:

The lure of exploring sunken vessels, airplanes and automobiles is something most divers can't resist. The PADI Wreck Diver Specialty course introduces you to wreck diving and helps you develop the skills and knowledge necessary for safe and fun wreck diving. The planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of wreck diving. The preparation and use of lights, air supplies, special equipment, penetration lines and reels. Limited-visibility diving techniques and emergency procedures . This two day course with four open water dives will give you the required training for planning wreck dives. This course includes 4 dives and can be completed in 2-3 days

 

EFR COURSE:

The PADI Emergency First Response (EFR) - a basic course in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency care - teaches you simple, logical steps that you can take to assist somebody who needs help. With practical application and hands on experience this course becomes beneficial for both diver and non-diver. The PADI Emergency First Response course meets the certification requirements for several PADI courses. This course takes usually 8 hours.

 

RESCUE DIVER COURSE

The PADI Rescue Diver course, a prerequisite to entering the professional level, is designed to develop leadership skills and turn a diver's focus from himself to other divers. Rescue training expands your knowledge of diving, increases your level of diving skills, and makes you more aware of what is happening around you in the diving environment. Most importantly, rescue training can help you save lives and increase diving safety by preparing you to respond properly to diving emergencies or near-emergencies. Become the best buddy you can, by earning the PADI Rescue Diver certification. In this course you will work, but the rewards are well worth it.

 

DIVE MASTER TRAINING:

Divemaster training is the first professional leadership level in the PADI progression. For those who decide that scuba diving can be more than a recreational endeavor and are interested in exploring the profession potential diving may hold, acquiring the PADI Divermaster rating is the first step in the process. The decision to pursue this goal is to be commended. Divemasters have substantial advanced training permitting them to assist Instructors and can assume a leader role for divers in their charge. In the Divemaster class, you will gain an Instructor knowledge level of Physics, Physiology, Equipment, the Diving Environment and much more. You will also learn how to work with students and certified divers in pool and open water environments. Upon completion of this course you will be an indispensable asset to any instructor - a fully qualified Divemaster. We also offer this course as an internship program. Please contact us.
